joyeux anniversaire à moi

Leopard stilettos, a gazillion balloons, a bangin’ backless dress, my family, my man, my friends… SURPRISE!

These are just a few of the things that I envisioned for my 28th born day!   I wanted to celebrate my “champagne birthday” with a grand all-things-fabulous type of bash!  You know, the type of party people talk about for years to come because it was just that fabulous!

Then, life happened. :-/

Work got a bit frustrating interesting, my dental problem got worse (my root canal procedure went south)…and within a few days, I was just so over it!  I thought to myself, “If I’m not able to host the ‘bash of the year’, then I don’t want to celebrate at all”.

I went on for weeks with this pathetic mindset, until that phone call of truth with my mommy! (LOVE HER). She helped me to understand that my birthday doesn’t have to be ruined simply because the celebration doesn’t happen on the exact date. I can celebrate WHENEVER and HOWEVER I want!  A pretty obvious truth that I totally missed on my own!

Suffice it to say, I embraced this truth and decided to host a very last-minute mini girls’ night at my place! I gathered  some of my closest girlfriends, and it turned out to be one of my most fabulous birthday celebrations to date! The company, the conversation, the cocktails… it was absolutely wonderful! And guess what? This is just the beginning 🙂

I am so thankful for my wonderful mommy, my amazing man, and all of those who encouraged me through all the craziness of the past few months!  You helped me to gracefully remove myself from the VIP section of my pity party, and helped me to understand that despite what situations may occur, I can still enjoy my life!

In the words of Annette Funicello

“Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful”

Happy 28th birthday to me!
