“Master Your Face“ May is coming to a close and in the last few posts I’ll be sharing what’s in my makeup bag. Today we’re talking about “tools” and the 7-ish brushes I use daily for my everyday makeup look! Watch the full video here!
I used to own all the brush sets, and it wasn’t until last year that I knew I had to declutter my makeup area! Going from owning over 25+ brushes, and going through a bit of overwhelm and decision fatigue trying to figure out which brush to use this day or that day… to now only owning/using 7-ish… whew chi! Talk about streamlining my routine!
All that to say, you don’t need a bunch of products or brushes to get the look you want. Both are important, but I found that less is so much more! I love my simple 10 step routine… and sticking with just a few brushes has helped me to master the process for my own face!
Let’s get into the Brushes! None of these tools have been sponsored. I purchased each with my own money and have been using them for at least a year (some more). Affiliate links are shared below so if you make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Let’s go!
1. RT 242 Brightener & concealer Brush: I use this to apply my concealer. It is amazing for getting into those small inner corners. I look the size and angle. It really makes apply my concealer seamless (especially when the brush is CLEAN). Small intentional taps, and this brush helps the product to melt into my skin for a seamless base.
2. RT Pointed Foundation Brush (From Original Core Collection): This is one of my older brushes, I’ve owned this since following BeautybyJJ (Jennie Jenkins) on Youtube almost a decade ago. It’s old chi lol. But I use this to set my concealer down the bridge of my nose, mostly. I will also use this to set my face in a pinch, if I forgot to wash my actual powder puff.
2b. RT Miracle 2-In-1 Powder Puff:Not shown but I use this to set my under-eye concealer. I love this puff. I don’t wet it. I use it dry and it works well for the powder I use.
3. e.l.f Ultimate Blending Brush: This really is an exceptional brush. It works amazingly well. I use this for blending out harsh lines from concealer and applying my powder foundation. And when I wore liquid foundation, it also allowed for seamless application. I’ve also owned several of these over the past few years (I purchase a new one about once a year or so).
4. e.l.f. Contour Brush (From Original Core Collection): Another oldie, that I’ve been rocking with for several years. The rounded shaped is perfect for applying the powder for my contour under my cheekbones, and around my forehead. Light circular, intentional flicks of this brush works wonders.
5. Blush Brush (From random Brush set purchased forever ago from Burlington lol): My fave… BLUSH, and this brush is so fluffy and makes application effortless.
6. RT 449 Tapered Cheek Brush: Y’all cannot convince me that my makeup is complete without highlight… seriously! I’m going to add it to my will that on that great day when the saint gather to celebrate my life because the Good Lord called me home, make sure my face is glowing like Moses… OKAY! lol No but seriously, I highlight every time I wear makeup and this brush is perfect!
7. RT 210 Brush (expert concealer brush): I see now that this is intended for concealer, but I love using this to add a bit of dimension to my eyelids. I’m not really an eye shadow girlie, but I will take a bit of my contour powder and add it to my eye lids using this brush. It picks up just the right amount of product for my everyday eye look.
What are your fave brushes? Do you have any? Or do you need to clear out to figure out what will work best? Let me know in the comments below!
xx
