I thought about sharing my thoughts on the whole toxic synthetic braiding hair/extensions studies that have come to light in recent months, but I’ve decided…

THAT is not my fight to fight.

I firmly believe that “A WORD to the WISE is sufficient”. And at the end of the day, I know people will do what they believe to be best for them. No shade. No shame.

What I will do is share how I am doing things differently with my OWN hair… and right now I am on a journey to really embrace my own hair and get back to a place of health and wholeness.

So Today, I’m sharing a quick and simple style I’ve been wearing in between silk presses, in addition to chatting a bit more about how I’m redefining Protective styles for my OWN hair! Enjoy!

So the slick stick! I prefer that over edge control, and it really helps to lay down my hair and any fly-a-ways that are still growing in. I use it sparingly on my edges and on the ends before I use my fave black clips to tuck the ends.

I love this black cap (did I mention its for BIG HEADS lol) and I wish I could find the info on that head wrap that I’ve also been wearing, but until then, you HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOUR HAIR is PROTECTED underneath whatever you decide to wear. My tried and true silk cap has been doing the trick!

I know this is nothing new, but it is TOTALLY new for ME! After wearing “protective styles” with extensions for over a decade aka CROCHET BRAIDS… I’m finally embracing what it looks like to wear protective styles with my OWN HAIR… even when I use heat. I’m so serious about my hair journey to HEALTH & WHOLENESS! Praying you find this empowering as well!
