10-Step Everyday Makeup Routine (detailed) + Beginner Friendly Makeup Products

It’s a Slay Saturday, and we’re coming to the end of the  “Master Your Face makeup series for beginners. Today, I’m sharing the actual products that I use for my everyday makeup routine.  I’ve been rocking with every single product for over a year, some longer,  and they haven’t let me down! Watch this quick video of my 10-step makeup routine!

Products are important. And it is true, many just aren’t created equal. However, you can create the ideal combination of high & low end products to get the desire results, when you use the right technique.  As someone who has owned high end beauty products, drug store beauty products and many other beauty products in between… each level serves its purpose. So give your products permission to mix & mingle.

Okay, so let’s get into what I’ve been rocking with, in each step of my makeup routine.  Affiliate links are use so if you click and make a purchase using one of my links, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. 💋

Step 1: Hydrate and Prime

I never skip this step. A vibrant and intentional skin care routine is vital for proper application. Vibrant and intentional doesn’t mean it has to be complicated. I use this soap to wash my face. (it has also proven to be a stellar makeup wash for my brushes as well). And Then I hydrate with this lovely rose water & glycerin toner, and then I prime my face. I literally use 3 simple products for this step. And I add in my fave rosehip oil, applying it to my neck and face every night.

Step 2: Concealer

As I mentioned in the video, I am a mom of 3 and I am actively working on creating a sleep routine that allows me to get sufficient sleep at night. While I work on that, I make sure to give my under-eyes a little help. I use concealer on my under-eye, around my mouth, the middle of my forehead and down my nose. Under my eyes, I use a concealer in about two shades lighter than my complexion to brighten (Deep Cinnamon). And I use a shade that is the almost the exact color as my complexion around my mouth for a little color correction (Rich Chocolate). This e.l.f Camo Concealer is full coverage, so less is more!

Step 3: Blend & Set

I’ve talked about this a bit over the past several weeks. Setting your liquid and cream products, especially your concealer will make a world of difference. There are a bunch of different types of powders for a variety of purposes. I find that this finishing powder sets my concealer just right. I use this BLK OPL Finishing powder on every section of my face that I’ve used concealer. And this beauty blender makes it so easy! I also add a tad to my brows and eyelids to help minimize shine.

Step 4: Foundation

Powder foundation for the win. I’ve been using Studio Fix Powder for the past 3 years, and I love it. I love the buildable coverage, and how light my skin feels. Even the new formula works for me. The key is to use the right tools, and the right technique.  Also, less is more! I love using e.l.f.’s Ultimate Blending Brush. Keep the strokes light, intentional and circular in an upward motion for best results.

Step 5: Brows

My brows are extremely light, and can appear almost nonexistent after applying my foundation, so I ALWAYS fill them in. I’ve been using this pencil for well over a decade and it’s been consistently excellent. In a pinch I’ve used this to line my lips. This is the perfect hue of brown. I recently started added a few light strokes of black to darken them since I no longer wear lashes, and love the depth it adds to my everyday makeup look. Brows are important they truly frame your face. So whether you have full brows or need a little help like me, be intentional and give them the TLC they deserve.

Step 6: Contour

Adding warmth and depth to the face is so important. We have natural dimensions, and contour helps to keep your face from looking flat. Finding the right shade is important, almost as important as using the right product.

I’ll never forget when I first started wearing contour, and at the time I didn’t know I was supposed to use an actual pressed powder. Y’all I used dark brown (almost black) eye shadow! 😂 FATHA! Well I stepped into work (I was a Luxury Retail Executive at the time), and one of my employee’s goes “Oh, you have something on your face”.

To my dismay, under those beautiful skylight windows, it looked like I had mud smeared on my cheeks! I was mortified! In hindsight I’m actually grateful for that moment, because it was definitely what I needed to get better.

It only took that one time, and I never looked muddy again. I did all the research I needed to do (most likely during my lunch), and made my way to CVS after work. And I’ve been rocking with this pressed powder since! The color “Ebony” is just right for me!

Step 7: Eyes

Shadow, Liner & Mascara, are the trifecta for my everyday eye look. I start off with a touch of the contour powder as my base, and then follow up with this jumbo shadow pencil in the outer corners. I then go in with my liner and a few coats of mascara, on my ACTUAL lashes.

I am so grateful to have lashes. For years my lash line was bald from all the lash strips and glue. So this was a pleasant switch up for me. I’m not anti-lashes. I am just embracing what I have for now, and I love this for me!

Step 8: Blush

I love this blush. The Color is called “wine”. It’s a “coraly pink” and that makes it a universally complimentary shade. Try it! I can almost guarantee that you will love it! It’s So pretty, and adds just the right touch of rosy femininity to my cheeks.

Step 9: Highlight

If you’re like me and find that your makeup isn’t complete without highlight on your face, then I know you’re going to ADORE this level of shimmery goodness! Don’t walk… RUN to Dollar Tree and stock up! If you watched my YouTube Live then you saw the live demo I did, comparing this to Trophy Wife by Fenty. I like them both, but this dollar store highlight is in a class all by itself. Try it and convince me that I’m wrong. lol

Step 10: Lips

Can I Just say, MAC’s “Night Moth” is that girl for real! I seriously have not found a lip liner that compares! MAC really does offer excellent lip products. And when I tell you this Maybelline red Lip Color is the best I’ve ever used… trust and believe me… it is!

 It. Don’t. Move! 😂

I’m not sure what they put in this Super Stay Matte Ink (I’m wearing “Pioneer”), but it is excellent. This is my 3rd tube. It’s great for my dance mom’s too.  My little one has to wear a red lip for her shows and it really does STAY ON THE WHOLE TIME! TRY IT!!

And there you have it. My 10-step makeup routine and the EXACT products that I’ve been using for the past few years! Hope you found this helpful! Let me know in the comments below. Share your fave products, would love to hear about what you’re loving.

xx
